Common Questions

Questions donors ask most

No. You are born with hundreds of thousands of eggs. Each month, your body naturally recruits a group of eggs, but only one matures while the rest are reabsorbed. Egg donation medications simply allow more of those eggs to mature during that cycle — it does not reduce your overall egg supply or affect your ability to conceive in the future.

Most donors describe the process as involving mild discomfort rather than pain. The hormone injections use very small needles, similar to what diabetics use daily. The egg retrieval itself is performed under light sedation — you'll be asleep and won't feel anything. Some donors experience bloating or mild cramping afterward, which typically resolves within a few days.

From your initial application to egg retrieval, the process typically takes 4-6 weeks of active involvement. This includes screening and medical appointments, about 10-12 days of medication, and the retrieval itself — which takes only about 20 minutes. Most appointments are brief monitoring visits that fit easily into your schedule.

That depends entirely on your preference. We offer both anonymous and known donation arrangements. In an anonymous donation, identifying information is not shared. Some donors and recipients choose an open arrangement where limited information or even contact is exchanged. You always have control over your level of involvement.

Yes. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidelines allow up to six egg donation cycles. Many of our donors choose to donate again after a positive experience. Repeat donors often receive higher compensation. We require a recovery period between cycles to ensure your health and well-being.

Egg donation is considered a safe, well-established medical procedure that has been performed for over 30 years. The most common side effects are mild bloating, mood changes, and temporary discomfort from the medications. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a rare but known risk that our medical team actively monitors for and prevents. Serious complications are extremely uncommon.

Compensation is typically issued within 4-6 weeks after the egg retrieval procedure. You'll receive the full agreed-upon amount regardless of how many eggs are retrieved or the outcome for the recipients. Payment details are clearly outlined in your contract before you begin.

Yes, being on birth control does not disqualify you from becoming an egg donor. In fact, some forms of birth control can actually be helpful during the donation process. Your fertility specialist will work with you to adjust your contraception as needed during the cycle. You can resume your regular birth control after the retrieval.
